I've just upgraded Office 97 to Office 2003 to find out that I can't keep Outlook open. All other applications are working properly: Words, Excel, FrontPage, OneNote, Visio, etc.

When Outlook opens, in few seconds an error notice shows up as follows:
"Microsoft Office Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" and the Error Signature goes as:

AppName: outlook.exe AppVer: 11.06353.0 AddStamp: 408f2937
ModName: mso.dll ModVer: 11.0.6408.0 ModStamp: 416add54

I did a search for the "mso.dll" file and it is in 23 different places in my PC. Which one is the wrong one? They are…

C:\FRONTPAGE\OI561403.CAB
C:\FRONTPAGE\ZK561401.CAB
C:\ONENOTE\OI561403.CAB
C:\PROJECT\OI561433.CAB
C:\VISIO\OI561403.CAB
C:\OFFICE2003\FRONTPAGE\OI561403.CAB
C:\OFFICE2003\FRONTPAGE\ZK561401.CAB
C:\OFFICE2003\OFFICE\OI561403.CAB
C:\OFFICE2003\OFFICE\ZK561401.CAB
C:\OFFICE2003\ONENOTE\OI561403.CAB
C:\OFFICE2003\PROJECT\OI561433.CAB
C:\OFFICE2003\VISIO\OI561403.CAB
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE11
C:\Program Files\OFFICE2003\FRONTPAGE\OI561403.CAB
C:\Program Files\OFFICE2003\FRONTPAGE\ZK564401.CAB
C:\Program Files\OFFICE2003\OFFICE\OI5461403.CAB
C:\Program Files\OFFICE2003\OFFICE\ZK561403.CAB
C:\Program Files\OFFICE2003\ONENOTE\OI561403.CAB
C:\Program Files\OFFICE2003\PROJECT\OI561433.CAB
C:\Program Files\OFFICE2003\VISIO\OI561403.CAB
C:\OFFICE2003\OFFICE\FILES\ACCRT\ACCESSRT.CAB
C:\Program Files\OFFICE2003\OFFICE\FILES\ACCRT\ACCESSRT.CAB

Also in the WindowsXP System Information facility says that “mso.dll” is at fault and that the fault address is “0x000f206b.
” whatever this means…

I can send by e-mail a snapshot of the screen when this did happen. I don’t know how to attach it on here.

Any ideas?

Just let you know that the problem has been resolved.

My mistake was to download Office2003 over Office97 without uninstalling Office97 first.

Some of the remaining files' versions from 97 -the new installation did use them instead of overwritting them- didn't work properly with 2003 and made all the mes. Specially mso.dll...

After using Erase 97 -and stopping Dr. Watson run automatically at star up, I don't know why-, I did use a windows re-installation (then I've been told that it wasn't necessary  ), everything is back to normal.
